Meet Professor Nance

Professor "Bee" Nance is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 15 years of professional experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial management. With expertise in non-profit accounting, she provides financial oversight to multi-million-dollar organizations while moonlighting as an Accounting Professor, accounting translator and published author.

By day, Bee works full-time as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for an educational non-profit, Generation Teach, who envisions a world where racial injustice and inequity in education cease to exist.

By night, Bee is a creator and dreamer who works to teach children and families how to be more financially proactive, build wealth, and use credit wisely through her organization, The Rising Sunny.

Bee founded The Rising Sunny, a social enterprise and published her first book, “Sunny Gets Money.” This financial literacy tool is a fun story that combines financial education, rhythmic verses, and storytelling as you follow 9-year-old Sunny through the ups and downs of managing, saving, sharing, and spending money.

“Professor Nance – The Accounting Translator” is the title of Bee’s YouTube Page where she teaches accounting and supports future CPAs by creating content that current generations of accounting students can relate to and absorb in a fun, entertaining way.

Bee is constantly looking for opportunities to merge her passions for education, accounting, entrepreneurship, organization, community, and an overall desire to help others simplify their lives.

In 2021, Bee was selected as one of the 2020 top 50 women in accounting by Practice Ignition, and she was awarded the 40 under 40 black CPA award as a part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the first Black CPA in America. Bee is also a recipient of the 2023 Young Leader Award by Texas Women’s Foundation.

A multi-passionate person, Bee can be found singing, baking, learning guitar, and randomly speaking French in her “free” time.

Bee grew up in North Carolina and graduated from the best HBCU in the land, NC A&T State University.  She currently resides in Houston, TX with her husband, Joseph and their two sons, Sunny and Amir.
